AKA Rally Comes to Sun BuggyMonday we hosted a Mini-Baja Chase and time trial for the AKA Rally which is to be shown on Speed Channel in October. Over 50 people showed up and although you'll see in the picture on the left that Rain Clouds are present, the downpour was done before we went out to the dunes which made for great conditions.
Having driven all the way from New York city in these high powered automobiles on public roads, getting into our buggies and driving over dunes and rocks was a dramatic change. Although a few in the group got a bit out of hand, loosing control and rolling their buggies, by far and large this group was very skilled and had a great time. Verve Energy Drink was on site with coolers full of ...energy soda, and we put out a spread of fruits, veggies, yogurt, and fried chicken.
Everyone was given a chance to prove themselves by going for the best lap time on our desert track, and also had a chance to chase one of our desert racing instructors for the Nellis Mini-Baja. One of the guys got off a chase and told me that he only needed 2 words the whole time he was chasing his instructor .."Oh sh!T!, Oh Sh!t!, Oh sh!t!" we do some fairly intense desert chases.
